Longtime KC Anchor is Leaving the Business
A longtime Kansas City Anchor is leaving the station and the TV business altogether.
After 17 years, WDAF Anchor Susan Hiland is signing off to become the director of media and public relations at North Kansas City Schools.
Hiland, a Kansas City native, graduated from Oak Park High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in electronic media from Missouri State University in Springfield. She serves on the Northland Education Foundation Advisory Board.
Hiland, who has spent more than 20 years in the news business, has worked for ABC News in Chicago, KDNL in St. Louis, WFIE and WTVW in Evansville, Ind., and WTNH-TV in New Haven, Conn., according to her profile on WDAF's website.
WDAF hired Hiland in 1999, and she has spent the last 17 years in the anchor chair. She co-anchors the station's News at 5 and 9 p.m. with John Holt.
