Out the Door in Colorado Springs
A longtime Anchor is signing off in Colorado.
After 33 years Lisa Lyden is leaving the station and broadcasting all together.
“Family and community are precious to me. I am at a point in my life where it is time to devote more energy to the people I love,” said Lyden. “Stepping away from the anchor desk and leaving a terrific company like KOAA News5, and my wonderful coworkers, is difficult. But I’m excited to start a new chapter in my life.”
Lyden, who took a break from the station from July 2012 to October 2013 to care for her mother, is typically partnered with co-anchor Rob Quirk. No successor has been named yet. Lyden will remain on air until early this summer.
This isn’t the only staff change going on at KOAA. The station also announced the promotion of Brie Groves to co-anchor of their morning news program, “News 5 Today.” Groves will team with Ira Cronin, Stephen Bowers and Joanna Wise Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. She’ll continue to work on investigative reports and will anchor “News 5 at Noon.”
“Brie is a Colorado native, a graduate of CSU, and is deeply committed to the people of this state and the lifestyle we hold dear. She is smart, likable, genuine and extremely talented,” says KOAA5 President and General Manager Evan Pappas. “We are excited for the move and have great confidence that viewers will quickly grow to love Brie as much as our team does.”
