Atlanta Pissing Match
WGCL in Atlanta could be falling off one cable system in the next few days.
Today WGCL began notifying its viewers that Charter Cable may drop WGCL from its lineup after April 30, 2016.
WGCL claims that they hev been trying for months to get Charter to negotiate in good faith. But Charter has been too busy closing mergers worth more than $60 billion to concern themselves with WGCL’s viewers in Atlanta. The station says that those mergers will make big-cable Charter even bigger – five times bigger! It will be one of the largest cable companies in the world.
“Even the biggest cable companies shouldn’t be able to ignore their customers,” said WGCL Vice President and General Manager, Mark Pimentel. “Charter should focus on keeping WGCL in its lineup while it works on its mergers."
In the end the two sides will reach an agreement, neither side will say how much it is paying/getting and life will go on.
Eventually, the cost will be passed on to the viewers, who will be asked to pay more for exactly what they are getting now.
Knowing that, it makes it hard to cheer for either the station or Charter.
Just saying....
