Out the Door in South Carolina
Many inside WIS (Columbia) were shocked to learn that their News Director's last day would be this Friday.
An internal memo from GM Lyle Schulze informed them that ND Bryan Queen was leaving the station and doing so on Friday. No two weeks, no transition period.
Queen joined the station in September 2013, coming from WROC in Rochester.
No word on any replacement.
Here is the internal memo, obtained by FTVLive:
Subject: Bryan Queen
Team WIS:
After almost three years at the helm of the WIS News Department, Bryan Queen has informed me of his intention to leave WIS. Bryan has helped re-shape the WIS News brand and brought back a focus on Breaking News and First Alert Weather. He has also initiated the Alert Center concept to all of our newscasts and re-engineered our #1 morning show. Bryan has led our team through a tremendous news cycle here in the Midlands over the last year-from the Charleston shootings and the aftermath which included numerous town halls and state house rallies, to the bringing down of the flag, to the 1000 year flood and most recently, the First In The South Presidential Primary. We wish Bryan well in his next adventure. I have personally gotten to know Bryan in the last year as we have managed through all of previously mentioned news cycles. I appreciate his dedication and commitment to news excellence. Bryan’s last day will be Friday March 25th.
