Katie Couric may soon be logging off from Yahoo.

The company announced that they were going to cut 1,700 jobs and make a number of changes.

Yahoo's latest strategy is less about growth and more about cutbacks — at nearly every level of the company.

Yahoo will lay off 15% of its workforce. It is shutting down digital magazines, Yahoo Games and other properties. And it's moving away from producing original scripted content.

That could mean that dumping Couric and her $10 million salary is almost a no brainier for the company.
