Cincy News Director Out After the Feb Book
Many stations wait until after the book to part ways with the News Director, one Cincinnati station is doing so early.
WCPO and News Director Alex Bongiorno will leave the station after the February ratings period.
She came to the station in the Summer of 2013 from WTAE in Pittsburgh.
Here is the internal memo sent out by WCPO GM Jeff Brogan:
Team:
I want to share with you that Alex Bongiorno will be leaving WCPO – 9 On Your Side at the end of February. Alex shared the news with her staff a few minutes ago. Alex has worked hard to get us where we are today. Our station’s news strategy has evolved and we agreed to go in different directions.
I want to thank Alex for her commitment and dedication, which has led to advances in our newscasts and overall quality improvement in our newsroom.
I wish Alex all of the best. And while we will have a month to say goodbye, the focus remains on our February Sweep.
Our search for our next news director begins immediately. Over the course of the next few weeks, I’ll hold meetings and open door time to answer any of your questions. In the meantime, send me an email or schedule time if you’d like to talk.
