Major Affiliation Switch Going Down In Raleigh
After a 30 year relationship, CBS is dumping it's affiliation with WRAL and moving to WNCN.
CBS says they have signed an affiliation agreement with Media General's WNCN and the switch will take place on Feb 29 of this year.
“CBS has been a longstanding and valued partner for many years, and we are pleased to build upon our relationship with a new affiliation in Raleigh,” said Vincent L. Sadusky, Media General’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
WRAL tweeted that they are becoming the NBC station in the market.
WRAL is going to get the best of both worlds. The station will air the Super Bowl as a CBS affiliate and then get the Olympics later this Summer as an NBC station.
In other words, they are going to bank some big bucks.
