Brian Williams to Stay at NBC but Not Nightly News
NBC is expected to announce later Today that they are keeping lying Anchorman Brian Williams.
Williams will stay at the Peacock, but will lose his job as Anchor of NBC Nightly News. The network will announce that in his new role, Williams will primarily work for the network's struggling cable news channel MSNBC.
Key NBC staffers have been told this week of the network's decision to keep BriLie on the payroll.
Williams is expected to be used in a breaking-news capacity at MSNBC as the network tries to figure out how else he will be at the network.
Not everyone is happy with the move. "It's a cop out," says one NBC staffer to FTVLive, "In the end they just didn't have the guts to do the right thing, which was fire him," the staffer added.
NBC will do the right thing by making Lester Holt the permanent Anchor of NBC Nightly News. Holt has been filing in for Williams the past 4 months during his suspension.
So Brian Williams will go from the No. 1 network newscast to an also ran cable news station.
How the mighty have fallen.
