Word is filtering down to NBC affiliates that the network's live production of "The Wiz" might run a bit light. 

It seems that the live broadcast could end about 15 minutes early, leaving stations with a big hole to fill before the late newscast starts.

The Wiz will broadcast Thursday night and NBC stations are just learning now that they will have a big hole to fill.

Some stations are making use of the "behind the scenes" elements to string together a post-show, while others are using it for public affairs or promo time. In any scenario, it adds up to a horrible lead in especially for small market stations without the resources to produce something watchable.

Maybe next time the 6pm news is a little light, stations can kick it to Lester Holt a few minutes early.
