CNN Catches Heat for Freddie Gray Story

Once again CNN finds itself getting criticized for something that they wrote.

The network which has proven that they are often factually challenged, is now catching flack for being more than insensitive.

In a story on the network's website, they talk about the first day in the trial of one of six Baltimore police officers indicted in the death of Freddie Gray.

In the story, which was written by CNN journalists Ann O’Neill and Aaron Cooper, they refer to Gray’s mother as a dumb junkie.

CNN described the deceased Gray as “the son of an illiterate heroin addict.”

They then go on to suggest that Gray’s death “made him a symbol of the black community’s distrust of police,” much like the deaths of Michael Brown, Tamir Rice and Eric Garner.

Needless to say, no matter what the story said, most people were locked on that one line, "“the son of an illiterate heroin addict.”

Many took to social media to slam CNN and stick up for Gray's mother, Gloria Darden.

There is no doubt, that after reading that line, the Statue of Liberty bowed her head in disgust.
