This is One Job Posting the Station Did Not Want to Make
There are some job postings that stations make, hoping that they can quickly fill the job.
But one station made a job posting that they never wanted to make.
Sadly, WDBJ has posted the job of morning Reporter. This is the job that was held by Alison Parker.
Parker and Photographer Adam Ward were gunned down by an ex-staffer at the station.
WDBJ did not want to do it, but finally they have posted the opening for Parker's job.

Job Description:
WDBJ7, the most watched television station in Southwest and Central Virginia is looking for a dynamic Reporter/Anchor to be a part of hard working news team. The successful candidate will anchor daily morning newscasts and serve as a general assignment reporter and morning segments producer.
Essential Functions: •Develops, investigates, writes, reports and edits stories of interest to the WDBJ7 viewers • Anchor newscasts in a clear, energetic and informative manner • Maintain contacts and knowledge about assigned beats and conduct regular beat checks • Conduct interviews in the field and on-set • Works in conjunction with photographers to deliver reports of high visual and ethical standards. • Enterprise and produce packages for sweeps period • Attend and contribute in daily editorial meetings • Post and update stories on the web • Post extended interviews, raw video and photo galleries to station website • Interact with viewers through social media such as Facebook and Twitter • Communicates with web staff during breaking news • Represent the station at public events • Substitute anchor when needed • Perform other job-related duties
Requirements: Experience: • Two or more years of reporting and/or anchoring preferred • Experience with web writing and social media post • Excellent broadcast writing experience a must • Editorial leadership skills a plus • Have experience with many platforms including television, web, mobile and social networks
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to tell complicated stories with “live ability” required. • Must possess a strong understanding of daily newscast content and work in conjunction with producers to develop a dynamic product. • Strong initiative, attention to detail, and advanced ethical decision-making skills required * Ability to write in a clear, concise, and conversational manner * Intermediate level knowledge of I-News or other newsroom software * Commanding and personable anchor presence * Must be able to report "live" and ad-lib during breaking news * Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure* Ability to work independently with little supervision * Ability to shoot video * Basic knowledge of web posting * Intermediate level knowledge of social media
Education: • Bachelors Degree required. Major in broadcast journalism or related field preferred
Licensing/Certifications: • Must hold a valid driver’s license
Working Conditions: • Employee will be exposed to atmospheric conditions * Expect substantial outdoor work in all weather conditions * Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs for short distances * Evening and some holidays required
