Cocaine Congressman's Wife Named Main Anchor in SoFlo
WFTX in Ft. Myers has announced that Amy Wegmann, who rejoined the station in July, has been named the new "permanent" co-anchor of the 6p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts.
Wegmann had worked at the station before, but left when her husband Trey Radel ran for and won a seat in Congress.
Radel's term as a Congressman didn't last long when he was arrested and sentenced for cocaine possession.
Although, Wegmann or her husband never really answered questions about coke bust, the station welcomed her back with open arms and now has made her Main Anchor.
“We are excited to have Amy move to FOX 4 News at 6, 10, and 11. She did a great job for us in the mornings and believe we will strengthen our evening newscasts with her anchoring and reporting talents,” said FOX 4 Vice President and General Manager Charlie Henrich.
“Amy is a hometown girl from Cape Coral and connects very well with the viewers of Southwest Florida," Henrich added. "We are excited about this transition.”
So there you go.
