ESPN opened the doors on to its new digital production facility that will house the popular program 'SportsCenter' starting next month. 

Hartford Business writes that ESPN built the 194,000-square-foot facility, which it has dubbed Digital Center 2, with the help of up to $10 million in state tax credits.

The company spent more than $100 million to build the facility.

ESPN and the state had originally agreed on a $17.5 million loan and job-training assistance under the Department of Economic and Community Development's 'First Five'program.

Peter Yazbak, a spokesman for Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, said Monday that ESPN reevaluated its financial needs for the project and decided it would prefer to benefit from the Urban and Industrial Sites Reinvestment Tax Credit Program instead.

The tax credits can be earned over a 10-year period.

In exchange for the credits, the company has promised to create at least 200 jobs in Connecticut over the next three years. ESPN said it employs approximately 4,000 in the state today.

Digital Center 2 has four studios, six production control rooms and 26 edit rooms.
