60 Minutes Cracks Top 10 for 8th Week in a Row

Without any pulse beating music or flying graphics, 60 Minutes continues to be the number 1 rated news show on television.

The longtime news magazine is on a roll in the ratings. Sunday's show was in Nielsen’s Top 10 list for the eighth time in a row, drawing 11.4 million viewers to land at #6. It is the ninth time in 12 weeks that the CBS newsmagazine has finished among Nielsen’s top 10 primetime broadcasts.

60 Minutes also made the list in households, scoring a 7.2/12, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Dec. 14, 2014. The ratings earned the program a tie at #6 with the CBS drama Blue Bloods and NBC’s “The Voice Tuesday.”

Compared to last year, 60 MINUTES was up +9% in households, +7 percent in adults 18-49, +10% in viewers and even in adults 25-54.

Sunday’s 60 Minutes featured Scott Pelley’s investigation of the way insurance companies deal with the severely mentally ill, a Bob Simon report on life inside the besieged Syrian city of Homs and Anderson Cooper’s story on meditation.
