Motown Station Didn't get the Joke
Poor WJBK in Detroit did not get the joke a local artist was trying to make.
Artist Jerry Vile left a present for the bankrupt city: a giant Crisco can underneath the city's iconic Joe Louis fist. With his tribute, Vile left a placard identifying the installation's title as "A Vessel of Hope" and explaining that the gesture was meant to "ease the pain" of Detroit's bankruptcy. Most of the local media seemed to understand that this was an elaborate fisting joke. Except for one outlet.
"Can anyone explain what this means???" asked the Facebook page of WJBK Fox 2 Detroit.
After a few people filled them in on the joke. The station posted this to their FB page: "Wow. Apparently, we're a little naive,"
