Sad news out of Market Number 1. 

Longtime WNBC reporter John Noel has died.

The Emmy Award-winning journalist,who joined the NBC O&O in February 1998 as a general assignment reporter, had been suffering from brain cancer.

“It is with great sadness that we report the loss of our beloved colleague John Noel,” WNBC officials said in a statement.

“Two years ago, John had been diagnosed with a serious illness but continued to come to work until recently. Our WNBC family sends its thoughts and prayers to John’s family. He will be sincerely missed.”

Noel was 62 years old.
