The highest paid CEO working in New York City is not heading up a big Wall Street firm, or a giant bank.
He's watching over CBS.
CBS’ Leslie Moonves was the city’s highest-paid chief executive officer, earning $60.3 million last year, according to a new report.
The television exec’s salary was $24 million more than any other CEO in the city, and five times more than the average of other top bosses at CBS, Crain’s New York Business reported.
A CBS spokesman defended Moonves’ pay, noting the Tiffany Network has posted record profits under his leadership. The broadcast network’s net income increased 6% and it has claimed the top spot among major television channels in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic.
Ralph Lauren came in second, earning $36.3 million in 2012, according to just-compiled data by GMI Ratings, an advisory firm.
