Facebook Troll Busted for Harassing KSDK Staffers
It always gives us a warm feeling when some Internet Troll gets exactly what he deserves.
Im St. Louis Thomas Duroso has been charged with six counts of misdemeanor harassment by the circuit attorney's office.
Duroso began posting threatening messages on several KSDK employees' Facebook pages in November, according to the circuit attorney's office. There also were obscene and threatening phone calls, authorities said. Victims were listed in court documents by initials: PM, HG, BS, JB and SD.
The situation came to a head on April 2, when authorities allege Duroso "called KSDK repeatedly and threatened that something bad will happen to the KSDK family."
Later that day, Duroso showed up in the lobby of the station's studios at 1000 Market Street.
A station source said a KSDK salesman was in the lobby Tuesday when he heard a man asking how to get to the station.
The salesman turned and noticed that the man appeared to be Duroso, whose photo had been placed on the station bulletin board when the Facebook messaging began last year. The salesman called station executives, who in turn called police.
KSDK officials could not be reached for comment.
Bond was set at $1,000 cash. Duroso was to appear again in court on May 2. He is prohibited from going near the station.
A man with the same name and calling himself "A Messenger of God" has posted a series of YouTube videos promising Biblical retribution on sinners.
Since Duroso's arrest, the station has beefed up security around the studios and has used golf carts to ferry employees to their cars, the station source said.
