Former Dallas Reporter Goes back to School
Former Dallas TV journalist Rebecca Rodriguez will get to work normal hours and she'll make over $150 grand a year (makes you rethink that TV career, doesn't it?)
She is the new communications chief for Dallas School District.
The Dallas Morning News says that Rodriguez, who currently works for the city of Arlington as marketing communications manager, will begin on March 1. Her base salary is $155,000, and she could earn more in bonus money for meeting certain performance targets. Details of the bonus plan have not yet been provided.
The new chief was a reporter and anchor for Channel 8 (WFAA-TV) and Channel 11 (KTVT-TV). Prior to that, she was a television anchor in Waco, Austin and Seattle, and also has work experience at CNN and the Fox News Channel, according to a district news release. In 2006, she left television and founded Ciano Media, a communications firm based in Arlington. She began in her current position in Arlington in 2011.
She is the first Hispanic woman to lead the district’s Communications Department, the news release states.
“Rebecca will make a difference in the way we communicate and how we communicate,” Miles said in the news release, “and she is uniquely qualified to direct our efforts to reach the school district’s myriad audiences. Most importantly, Rebecca wants to make a difference for the children.”
