Philly Station to Farm out Sports Coverage
NBC O&O WCAU is going to farm out their sports coverage to corporate sister Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.
NBC says that the regional sports network will produce complete sports coverage for WCAU.
“NBC10 is proud to be working with Comcast SportsNet,” said WCAU GM Eric Lerner, in a statement. “We’re committed to finding creative ways to work with CSN and feel strongly that this unique collaboration will provide passionate Philadelphia sports fans with the best sports coverage in the market.”
Plus it will save us a boatload of money, Lerner should have added, but did not.
WCAU sports director Vai Sikahema will stay at the station and will work for both WCAU and Comcast SportsNet.
The station is sending him to Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, where he will file reports for both properties.
