Out the Door After 4 Decades
WTEN Meteorologist Steve Caporizzo has announced his retirement after more than 40 years on TV.
Caporizzo is one of if not the most recognized name and face in Capital Region.
“My dear friend Elisa Streeter, someone that I worked with for over 30 years, once told me when I asked ‘How do you know when it is time to retire?’ She said ‘You will know Steve,’ and she was right,” Caporizzo said in his announcement.
“Steve was already an established legend when I got to the station in 2010. He has always led by example. Strong, fair and professional,” said Ryan Mott, WTEN News Director. “If there was a weather event, that was his priority. He loves what he does, and that’s what makes him so good at it. As for legacy, 35 years at the same station doing a job he loves says all there is to say.”
It is a long goodbye as he won’t be leaving the station until June.
Caporizzo says he “will be 100% done doing the weather on TV” at the end of June, although he will continue posting about the weather on his social media accounts.
