Changes in the Weather in Cedar Rapids

Justin Roberts is returning to the KCRG Weather Team, where he'll deliver the morning weather forecast alongside Jackie Kennon and Kristin Rogers starting September 3rd. Roberts, who has over a decade of experience forecasting weather in Eastern Iowa, is excited to return to the morning news and emphasized the importance of preparing the audience for the day ahead. He will continue co-hosting Everyday Iowa while taking on his new role.

As part of the weather team changes, meteorologist Corey Thompson will take over the evening forecasts, joining the KCRG-TV9 News at 10:00 alongside Beth Malicki, Jim Mertens, and Scott Saville. Thompson will also provide enhanced weather coverage for the KCRG-TV9 News First at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00, offering more detailed analysis of storm systems and climate patterns. These changes are designed to provide viewers with deeper insights into Eastern Iowa’s weather.

Chief Meteorologist Joe Winters will shift to delivering the First Alert Forecast during the midday newscast while continuing his evening duties, bringing his 34 years of forecasting experience to a broader audience. These adjustments, according to KCRG-TV9’s leadership, reinforce the station's commitment to delivering reliable and accurate weather information to Eastern Iowa.
