News Nation Employee Killed

Grace Bentkowski was just getting her career started working as a Producer at Nexstar’s News Nation in Chicago.

Sadly, Bentkowski was struck and killed by a train during a freak accident in the Windy City.

Bentkowski was crossing ground-level tracks with a group of other commuters at when a train leaving the platform suddenly plowed into her.

She had recently graduated from Ball State University and landed her first job in TV.

Maryann O’Neill, said Bentkowski knew from an early age that news was her passion.

“She was beautiful inside and out,” her grandmother Maryann O’Neill told WGN. “She knew what she wanted to do in life and it was the news.”

Her brother, Adian, has since launched a Gofundme page describing how he’d lost his “best friend” and his parents “lost their precious baby girl.”

“Grace touched many people’s lives at the young age of 22. She was a striving journalist and the hardest worker there is. She managed to make such a big impact at 22 years old, and I wish we could’ve had her here longer,” he wrote.
