About six months ago, someone contacted me to say they had an offer to attend Dr. Phil’s vanity project, Merit Street Media.

I advised them against it because I didn’t think Dr. Phil had a clue how to run a network.

Well, just four months in, and Merit Street Media has screwed over a number of employees, kicking them to the curb in a big layoff.

Sources tell FTVLive that the network’s evening show will be live for the A block, and the rest of the segments will be recorded earlier in the day. They will bring in writers from Dr. Phil’s show to write those segments. 

Sources say the show had a lot of trouble booking any decent guests.

What is also interesting as employees at Merit Street Media were basically blindsided by the big cuts, the company had already reached out to new hires to say the job was off the table.

By th way, the person I told not to take the job, emailed me on Friday, thanking me profusely.
