After six years as News Director and the last two as the "Director of Local News and Content”, Tom Doerr has left WINK-TV in Ft. Myers.

Insiders said that Doerr was just “quietly gone.”

He did deal with a recent health issue, which, thankfully, he appears to be recovering from.

When Doerr took the job in Ft. Myers, he told me that this was his last job in TV news. He’s had a good run, working at Atlanta, Tusla, DC, Miami, Chicago, and Ft. Myers stations.

I used to hear from Doerr from time to time, but as I deservedly called out some of the people at his station, it became radio silence.

It's not that uncommon around here, and FTVLive will be posting a vlog about this topic in the future.

Good luck to Tom and his wife, Gail, as they move onto the back nine of life.
