WCCO (Minneapolis) Reporter Allen Henry took to social media to say that he is quitting the station.

It might be one of the more honest resignations you will read.

This is what he posted:

I quit.

My mom didn’t raise a quitter so saying those words for the first time has been one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. Not just because I’m quitting my job at WCCO. I’m leaving TV news entirely.

It was ten years ago that I signed my first TV news contract, joining WSFA in Alabama. From Montgomery to Minneapolis, a lot has happened in the last decade - both personally and professionally. I have a lot to be thankful for. Friends who have become family. Incredible, crazy experiences that make for great stories. A couple of Emmys. It’s been fun. I love being a storyteller and I hope that in some way, I’ve made a difference in the communities I’ve lived in.

One thing that hasn’t happened in the last decade is any improvement in the industry. Traditional television is dying. How people consume information, if at all, has changed wildly. Any “improvement” typically involves being asked to do even more work for the same pay. My dreams and aspirations used to involve an anchor desk. The things I dream of now - traveling, buying a home, just being financially secure! - I don’t see a path forward for any of that in this business. You don’t need three CEOs to figure out that’s a problem. Instead of being sad about it from the inside, I will be happy on the outside.

My last day will be June 21st. It’s been an honor.
