Tegna News Director Bumped to the Corner Office

Tegna sent out a press release announcing that they have bumped up KGW (Portland) News Director Greg Retsinas to the role of General Manager.

As you know, FTVLive is always happy to see an ND moved to GM, which is much better than some dweeb from sales getting the gig.

Let’s go to the soundbite, where no one talks like that. “Greg’s leadership at KGW has been distinguished by integrity, curiosity and accountability, qualities that have garnered the unwavering respect of the KGW team,” said Mark Cornetta, senior vice president, media operations, Tegna and KUSA Denver president-GM. “His experience and commitment to serving the unique community that is Portland coupled with a proven track record of results make him the ideal steward to lead KGW into the future.”

Tegna said that Retsinas will be responsible for the station’s operations across all platforms, as well as community outreach efforts and driving results for advertisers.

It would have been nice if they mentioned anything about making the station’s journalism a top priority and not worry so much about “driving results for advertisers.”
