News Photographer Arrested While Covering Protests
Looking at this from the outside, this appears to be a case of law enforcement going too far.
KTBC (Austin) was covering protests at the University of Texas Austin Campus.
Texas DPS started arresting the protestors, and one of those who was arrested was a KTBC Photographer assigned to cover the event.
The station reports that after the protest line was moved back, social media video shows the photographer being pulled backwards to the ground by Texas DPS troopers. He was then detained and taken to jail.
The FOX 7 Austin photographer was booked into the Travis County Jail at 8:29 p.m. and was charged with criminal trespassing.
The Photographer, who for some reason is not being named by the station, was released from jail.
