Last year, when KCCI was searching for a new evening anchor, many viewers lobbied the station to promote Scott Carpenter to the job.

Carpenter was well-liked and a skilled anchor. 

“I think KCCI knew at the time that he would be a good pick.  Instead, they (or their corporate overlords at Hearst) chose a guy from Tallahassee,” said one KCCI insider to FTVLive.

As for Carpenter, he’s now moving on to Birmingham.

Update: His agent says that he is moving to the Hearst station, so he is staying in the company.
