Trump Sues ABC News

While Donald Trump is having trouble paying the judgments levied against him in civil trials, it’s not stopping him from suing other people.

Trump has filed a lawsuit against ABC News and Anchor George Stephanopoulos, claiming that they harmed his reputation (insert joke here).

Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC News, claiming that Stephanopoulos harmed his reputation by saying multiple times on-air that Trump had been found liable for raping the writer E. Jean Carroll.

Trump was found liable for sexually abusing and Carroll, but did not find the former president liable for rape.

The judge in that case did clarify that because of New York’s narrow legal definition of “rape,” the jury’s finding did not mean that Carroll “failed to prove that Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’”

I’m not a legal expert by any means, but looking at Trump’s standing as a public figure, I think he will be very hard-pressed even to get this case against ABC News to court.

But we’ll have to wait and see.
