After posting the story about the expensive consulting firm that Scripps is using to conduct an employee survery, we heard from a number of you.

Email:

Employees at Scripps can't figure out why there are changes and layoffs? So the company hires McKinsey?

Gee, couldn't the money spent to hire McKinsey, and implementing their suggestions, be used for, I don't know ... RAISES and/or AVOIDING LAYOFFS INSTEAD?

Email:

Thank you for the heads up on McKinsey!

A lot of people at my Scripps station had no idea they are hired to advise companies on mass layoffs…and Scripps has said the “news initiative” joke will continue in 2024.

The John Oliver segment is spot on, and everyone needs to watch it.

If Adam Symson really wanted to improve our culture…he’d tell us the cuts are over and not continue to cannibalize our product. Please keep fighting this and exposing him. Everything you’ve reported has been facts, while everything Symson tells us is fiction, and it’s insulting how stupid he thinks we are to believe that this has been successful.

Like every survey, our management will push us into participating (probably on Symson’s direction), because he really only wants to know who to lay off. The real culture he wants to build is one of compliance…but when this bombs, he'll hold everyone but himself accountable for failing to sell worthless Scripps News to our local audiences. And what better way to get our audience to change the channel than running untimely recorded shows???

We’re an embarrassment in our market having to do this up against live & local newscasts. Symson’s been brainwashed by McKinsey with the hallucination that this will be highly successful, and we’re all sure he’s been counseled that mass layoffs will expand his already seven-figure salary. McKinsey has driven several companies into bankruptcy…and Scripps is well on its way in that direction under Adam Symson.

He is destroying local news. Period.

I saw the story you posted about Scripps’ consulting company. When I got the email from Adam that the survey was coming I already decided that I would not be partaking.
