With WGRZ Sports Director Adam Benigni stepping away from his daily duties, it seems the Tegna station continues to bleed people.

For years, WGRZ seemed like a stable place to work, but that has changed in the past year. some of those who have left are Kate Welshofer, Maria Genero, Michael Wooten, Elyse Smith, Julianne Pelusi, a couple of digital staff, and quite a few Producers.

While many are leaving, “Not many people coming in the door either, which is no surprise,” said one insider to FTVLive.

Tegna has seen a lot of turnover at their stations. Look at their top stations, KUSA (Denver) and WUSA (DC), and you see quite a bit of turnover.

According to sources, what’s interesting at WUSA is that while the station is challenged in the ratings, news boss and Station Manager Michael Valentine took off for a Mexican vacation during the Feb book.

Tegna seems to be hard-pressed to keep people, and it is putting a lot of stress on the people left at the understaffed stations.
