Resurfacing Across the Street
After more than a quarter of a century, Rafael Sánchez left Scripps-owned WRTV in Indianapolis.
Since it’s Scripps, we have no clue if Sánchez left on his own, or was pushed.
But we do know where his next TV gig is, and he didn’t have to go far to find it.
Sánchez will be soon resurfacing at Nexstar’s WXIN/WTTV in Indy.
Here is the internal memo that went out to the staff and was obtained by FTVLive:
I’m excited to announce that Rafael Sanchez will be joining us on April 1st. This is no April Fool’s Joke. Rafael anchored for more than 26 years at WRTV before leaving there a couple of weeks ago. Before that, he worked at stations in South Bend and Fort Wayne, among others. Back in 1992, he interned here at WXIN… so I suppose you could say he’s coming home. If you’ve seen the reaction on social media to Rafael’s departure from WRTV it’s obvious he’s made a tremendous mark on Central Indiana and now he’s bringing that experience and those connections to FOX59 and CBS4. For now, he’ll be working behind the scenes, helping us to develop unique and investigative stories. We are incredibly lucky to have Rafael as part of our team and I can tell you that he’s excited to get started as well!
BTW- Scripps might want to take Sanchez’s bio down from the WRTV website.
Just saying…
