It is rare to find a TV station that hosts a holiday party for the staff these days.

But, Nexstar’s WPRI (Providence) had a party planned for the staff at Narragansett Brewery on Tuesday.

But, before the party began, the staff was told it was cancelled. This was in the wake of the layoffs that hit the Nexstar stations.

It is likely that this party was going to cost the station nothing out of pocket, and I’m guessing it was being done on trade. But, that didn’t stop the station brass from pulling the plug on the holiday party.

There is one thing worse than a station that does not hold a holiday party, and that is a station that says they are going to hold one, and then cancel it at the last minute.
