Cincy Weatherman is Hanging it Up
After nearly 50 years, Cincy Meteorologist Steve Horstmeyer says he is going to retire.
While it is the November ratings, Horstmeyer will not be leaving this sweeps period. In fact, he won’t be leaving this year.
Horstmeyer will sign off in 5 months, leaving in March 2025. That way he announces it in this book and then rides through the next ratings book before finally saying goodbye.
Horstmeyer started back in 1977 at WLWT, before switching over to WKRC and then to WXIX.
“It’s time. You know when it’s time,” says the 71-year-old Horstmeyer.
“I wanted to retire two years ago, but the station wanted me to stay, so I did,” he said.
He says that he’s looking forward to traveling with his wife, Annie, a paralegal for a downtown Cincinnati law firm. And “just having a normal life” after nearly five decades working weekends, mornings or nights.
