Uncle Perry Buys a Hockey Team

Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik bought the NHL team for $93 million dollars, back in 2010.

He just sold a majority of his equity in the NHL team in a deal valuing the club at $1.8B. Pretty nice return on investment.

Since this is a TV blog and not a sports blog, we will not bore you with the details. But if you’re interested, you can read them here.

What is cool is that Vink is paying out approximately $20M in bonuses to the organization’s more than 300 employees after selling.

Here’s the TV angle on this story.

Part of the new ownership group is a bunch of people you likely have never heard of. Well, except for one guy.

Nexstar’s Perry Sook is part of the new ownership group of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Now you know where all that money you DIDN’T get in a raise went.

Don’t you feel better now?
