Bounced Out in the Burgh

It appears that CBS’s KDKA (Pittsburgh) has cut ties with Reporter/Anchor Royce Jones, who anchored the 10 p.m. news on KDKA’s sister station.

The Tribune-Review reports that in a two-sentence email sent to staff this week, KDKA/WPKD news director Shawn Hoder wrote, “FYI Royce Jones is no longer employed with CBS News Pittsburgh, KDKA/WPKD. We wish him well with future endeavors.”

Hoder did not immediately respond to questions about the departure or who will take over as anchor of the 10 p.m. newscast. Jones also did not respond to queries.

Jones joined KDKA in January 2020.

Of the ten people who sent FTVLive a link to this story, all said that the station’s loss of Jones was not a bad thing. One emailer from Pittsburgh said, “No loss. This guy makes Austin Walker seem competent.”

Ouch!
