A shudder went up the backs of many ABC employees when a story was floated that Nexstar might be buying the ABC O&O stations.

The news helped prop up Nexstar’s plummeting stock price, but this is in such early stages, it’s not even close to happening.

Former Nexstar executive and now Perry Sook adviser Tom Carter helped float the story. Word is that Disney did hold some preliminary talks with Nexstar. But it should be pointed out that talks like this happen often.

I really doubt that the price that ABC wants to sell out, is nowhere near the price that Nexstar wants to pay.

While we are not ruling out that this might happen one day, it is also just as likely will not happen.

If you’re working at an ABC O&O, this is no time to panic that you might be owned by a company that loves to make cuts and only hands out 1% raises when inflation is 4 times that.
