What is CBS Doing at the O&O's?
For the past few years, CBS has been creating management positions across the company.
I have never been inside a TV station or network, and some said, “You know what we really need? We need more people in management around here.”
But, that is what CBS has been doing for years.
Now CBS has announced that they have hired Matt Goldberg at KCBS/KCAL in the newly created position of Vice President and News Director at CBS News and Stations’ local businesses in Los Angeles.
CBS says that Goldberg will be responsible for overseeing the production of nine straight hours of local news each weekday, with a focus on KCAL’s morning newscasts.
Now you might be asking, “Scott, I thought Mike Dello Stritto was the News Director at KCBS/KCAL?”
Well, he is…. According to CBS, Dello Stritto will focus on overseeing the production of all afternoon and evening news content across the stations’ broadcast, streaming and digital platforms.
So, the station will have two VPs of news, and two News Directors.
So, I guess if you work at the station and one News Director doesn’t give you the answer you want to hear, you can try the other guy.
CBS is claiming that they need to save money, yet they continue to hire managers like nobody’s business.
That company is so lost.
