Answering an Inquiry from the Press

I was sent an email from a Reporter with The Christian Post about FTVLive’s coverage of WOOD-TV and an email sent from management about the station pulling back on coverage of Gay Pride Month.

This is the email inquiry I received and it is posted in its entirety below.

FTVLive Reply:

The email sent to the staff from WOOD-TV Assistant News Director Amy Fox said that the station was receiving negative comments and feedback from the station’s conservative viewers.

FTVLive did refer to those complaining people as " conservative homophobes watching the newscast."

The Christian Post Reporter asks the question, “Does this view represent FTVLive's view?”

The answer is yes; we wouldn’t have written that on our website if it weren't our view.

Does that mean that all conservatives are homophobes? Of course not. I never said that or implied it.

I was referring to a few idiots that called the station because they did not like seeing coverage of a different group with different beliefs about love and intimacy.

The second question that Giatti asks is a bit more loaded, “Do you and/or FTVLive discriminate editorially or operationally against certain religious views?”

I don’t discriminate against anyone for their religious views, and I never would.

I do denounce hate from any group, no matter what their religion or ethnicity is.

I don’t believe that Jesus Christ or any other supreme being hates certain people or a particular group. But you ask if I discriminate editorially or operationally against particular views. I don’t, but what about those people that called the station bitching?

Didn’t they discriminate against the LBGTQ+ community we they demanded that the station change its “editorial” coverage?

I was raised and believe that all people are created equal, and I will always stand by that.

What I don’t stand by is hate.

If you hate a person because of their skin color, religion, or sexual preference, then I want nothing to do with you, and I have no problem calling you out.

These people that called WOOD-TV to complain are homophobes. The station said they were conservatives.

There are also liberal homophobes, and I condemn them just the same.

I think people often mix the words conservative and Christian as it means the same thing.

It does not.

A Christian strives to be like Christ in life and how they carry themselves.

I don’t see Jesus calling a TV station and demanding that the station change how they cover a celebration of a group of people.

Those people that called WOOD-TV showed their hate for a group of people. That is not a Christian; it’s a straight-up homophobe.

I call it for what it is.

Just saying….
