Pittsburgh is one of the most competitive news markets in the country.
Taking a look at the May book shows just how close the race is.
Hearst-owned WTAE wins the 6 AM newscast with CBS’s KDKA finishing second and Cox’s WPXI in third. But WPXI does edge out KDKA in the demo.
At 5 PM, KDKA 3.9 rating barely beats WTAE’s 3.3 rating. WPXI is third with a 2.2 rating, but WPXI beats both stations in the demo.
6 PM has WTAE in first, KDKA second, and WPXI third. WTAE wins the demo, with WPXI second and KDKA third.
At 11 PM KDKA comes out on top, WTAE is second, with WPXI third. The demos basically show a tie with everyone very close.
