Longtime LA Reporter Has Died *

Beloved KTTV FOX 11 reporter Tony Valdez has passed away at the age of 78, the station announced on Friday, May 5th. Valdez had been battling end-stage kidney failure and passed away at his home.

Valdez worked at KTTV for an impressive 35 years and retired in 2016. During his time on television, he covered some of Southern California's most significant events, including the OJ Simpson trial, the Watts Riots, and the Night Stalker. Valdez's documentary on the Night Stalker is currently streaming on Netflix.

Valdez was remembered fondly by many of his colleagues in the industry. Several local TV news personalities took to Twitter to express their condolences and pay tribute to Valdez's legacy. Many referred to him as a tough reporter and legendary journalist, a testament to his unwavering commitment to delivering the news truthfully and objectively.
