I know many people might wish a “Happy Memorial Day” as a nice gesture.

But the reason for the Monday holiday is to remember those that died fighting for us.

So, when a TV station wishes viewers a “Happy Memorial Day,” I often wonder if they understand that the day is more about store sales and the “unofficial start of summer”?
