Cox Employees Left in the Dark
Yesterday, the Tegna deal officially was pronounced dead.
Tegna was supposed to be purchased by the hedge fund Standard General, but the FCC refused to sign off on the deal.
FTVLive showed you the internal memo that Tegna sent to the employees about the deal going bust.
But, Cox/Apollo employees at WFXT (Boston) told FTVLive that they heard nothing from their leadership.
Standard General announced in February of 2022 that they were going to acquire Boston 25 from Cox/Apollo, but it appears that deal died with the Tegna deal. “They pretty much have put the station on hold for a year so will they invest in them or try to flip them for less to someone else?, asked one insider.
Is the Boston 25 deal still alive?
Also, Cox/Apollo was supposed to get a several Texas Tegna stations after the deal went through.
Insiders tell FTVLive that the higher-ups at Cox haven’t told them anything.
The communications business at its best.
