Sally Ramirez Resurfaces in Chicago
Back in June of 2020, FTVLive FIRST told you that KHOU News Director Sally Ramirez was leaving the Tegna station.
Ramirez went to CNBC to be the EP of “The News with Shepard Smith.”
That project failed, but Ramirez is resurfacing inside the NBC family.
WMAQ (Chicago) announced that Ramirez is the station’s new senior vice president of news for NBC Chicago.
The station says that it is a newly created role of leading news operations.
WMAQ also announced that Akemi Harrison has been promoted to News Director at the NBC O&O.
Technically, Ramirez is the News Director, and Harrison is the Assistant News Director. but, in these times it is all about titles.
It is much cheaper to give a cool title than it is a boatload of money. Sorry…just facts.
And while we’re talking technicalities, Ramirez is basically taking over what was Frank Whittaker’s job before he retired.
