WCAU in Philadelphia, recently announced that Fred Shropshire would be joining their news team as the anchor for weekday evenings starting on Monday, June 26th.

Shropshire, who comes from WCNC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina, has an impressive resume that includes stints at several other stations across the country, including Raleigh, Winston-Salem, and Chicago. He has conducted over a dozen sit-down interviews with then-Senator Barack Obama during his first presidential run and has also chased several tropical storms, including Hurricane Ike when it made landfall in Galveston, Texas.

According to Elizabeth Flores, the Vice President of News for NBC10 and Telemundo62, Shropshire is a dedicated and community-minded journalist who will serve the audience well. Flores expressed excitement over Shropshire joining the NBC10 family, stating that his knowledge and passion for storytelling will benefit the station's audience.

Shropshire is also a self-proclaimed history buff and has expressed excitement over exploring Philadelphia, one of the country's oldest cities. He is eager to learn more about the city's rich history and to explore all that the Delaware Valley has to offer with his family.

Shropshire graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree in journalism and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. He has been recognized with several awards for his anchoring and reporting, including RTDNA awards, regional Edward R. Murrow awards, and regional Emmy awards.
