WNBC New York and WNJU (Telemundo) have announced a series of promotions that will see three award-winning journalists elevated into new leadership positions. The move is anchored by the promotion of Amy Morris to senior vice president of news, where she will be responsible for editorial content at both stations.

Eric Lerner, president and general manager of WNBC, said that Morris is an "exceptional journalist and an outstanding leader," and praised her for strengthening the station's award-winning I-Team, enhancing their weather coverage, and growing the Storm Team 4 weather team. Morris first joined WNBC in 2018 as the station's vice president of news, and under her leadership, the WNBC news team was awarded the 2021 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to Morris's promotion, WNBU and WNJU have also promoted two newsroom veterans to become news directors of their respective stations. Alexa Rodríguez will take up the position at WNJU, while David Manney will become news director at WNBC. Both Rodríguez and Manney will report to Morris.

Rodríguez has worked for the past four years as WNJU's assistant news director, and has been with the station since 2017, where she started as an executive producer. Prior to joining WNJU, Rodríguez worked for over 20 years at WXTV and has won multiple New York Emmy Awards throughout her career. Meanwhile, Manney has worked for nearly four years as WNBC's assistant news director, and returned to the station in 2016 following two years as news director for WXYZ Detroit. Manney was the recipient of a national Edward R. Murrow Award for coverage of Superstorm Sandy.
