I Have to Decide
Tori Kinley had a big enough presence on social media that WBBH (Ft. Myers) hired her on a temporary contract which would let her walk away from “trial” run as a Reporter with no consequences, or no buy out, according to sources.
Sources say that Kinley has called the “job” an experiment.
Not long after the news broke that an Orlando Reporter was shot and killed and a Photographer seriously wounded, Kinley was on social media, telling her followers that this news will have bearing on whether or not she signs a longterm contract with the station.
First off, a Reporter was just killed, I’m sorry, but I don’t give a fuck about your contract at this moment. The fact that you used a crying Reporter to talk about your deal is sick.
Second, everyone who gets into Journalism to be a JOURNALIST knows the job is dangerous.
In my TV career, I was shot at twice, had a gun pulled on me twice, and threatened with violence more times than I can count.
You decide to tell people’s stories, often on the worst day of that person’s life. TV news is not all county board meetings, parades, and ribbon cuttings. It’s a dangerous job.
It’s nice that the station gave you a chance to decide if you like being a Reporter, but I suggest maybe going back to TikTok.
Just saying….
