WINK in Ft. Myers was covering the scene at a residence and posted this report.

The Lee County Sheriff called the station out for their reporting. My thoughts on the backside.

First off, WINK reported that a neighbor saw two bodies being taken out. The station did not say there were two bodies just that is what a neighbor said what they saw.

The reporting was not “inaccurate,” as the sheriff claimed. They reported what the neighbor said.

Maybe if one of the investigators on the scene just quickly said to the media on-site, “We’re still early into our investigation, but it appears we have one person dead, and at this point, it does not appear to be suspicious. We’ll give you more information later.”

It would have saved the Media and the Sheriff time and helped get the correct information out to the people.

Instead, the Sheriff wants to grandstand and act like WINK intentionally reported wrong information, which they did not.
