Longtime News Manager Says Goodbye
KETV (Ohmaha) News Director Vonn Jones stepped down from the station Friday after 37 years at the station.
He spent the last five years as News Director. During his time as Assistant News Director, Vonn was a bulldog in the newsroom. He expected the best and if somebody was doing their job half ass, they could expect to hear about it.
Those high expectations drove a large amount of success, loyalty and excellence at KE, as they always dominated the ratings, not only in Omaha, but among the top ABC affiliates nationwide.
KETV newscasts were fun to watch because they were well produced and they had good reporters who knew the market and who weren't afraid to do some digging to break big stories.
Vonn lived and breathed news. It was his life - even on weekends. He worked really hard and did a lot of producing himself. His planning for big events like election night began months in advance and was done flawlessly. He left no stone unturned and no detail overlooked.
